Structure and components of the Riva del Garda volunteer fire department:
The Riva del Garda Volunteer Fire Department is divided into 5 groups:
Firefighters on active duty : includes about 70 firefighters from 18 to 60 years of age, who carry out all emergency interventions and guarantee, 24 hours a day all types of interventions to all rescue calls, plus every night according to a well-defined rotation, they man the firehouse ensuring the immediate response to calls. The firefighters also man the firehouse during all weekends and holidays. Continuous service (24 hours a day) involves dividing the active firefighters into 5 teams consisting of 12-13 members each and a team leader. Each team enters service on Monday evening and provides service for one week, ensuring availability for interventions and services in general. Alerting is done by pager, which each individual firefighter carries throughout the week of on-call duty.
Firefighters of Complement : firefighters who for health reasons are not fit for active service or who have reached the age limit for active service of sixty years. Important resource, as in addition to working with the squad for barracks services, they perform some types of non-emergency operations.
Cadet Firefighters : youngsters from 10 to 18 years old, perhaps the most important part of the Corps, as they ensure generational turnover and keep the Corps alive.
Honorary Firefighters : those who had reached the age limit of sixty years before the enactment of P.L. 9/2011, vigilantes with a long history in the Corps, or with meritorious service. Always available, of great help with logistical support and informational meetings held in schools of various grades.
Supporters : citizens or citizens, who provide their time and professional skills, in the administrative, medical or logistical fields, to ensure the smooth operation of the Corps.

Fire department water rescue is composed of three operational figures. The first are the licensed conductors with a special service nautical license ex art. 138 C.d.S., who after obtaining the necessary qualifications for safe and precise command of nautical units lend their services in rescue of pleasure, commercial or line boats with the motorboat "C9," the Zodiac 650pro inflatable boat with 115-hp outboard engine and the jet ski. The second are the nationally licensed professional lifeguards who equipped with suitable personal equipment such as wet suits or hydro suits and buoyancy aid vests provide surface water rescue both from land and aboard the above-mentioned water units. The Riva del Garda Fire Department is able to respond immediately and at any time to emergencies on Lake Garda Trentino 365 days a year h24.
The resources currently being fielded by the Riva del Garda Volunteer Fire Department, for rescue on the Lake are as follows:
- 37 firefighters with boat license
- 24 firefighters with lifeguard certification
- 59 firefighters with BLSD training
Very important component for generational turnover and ensuring the operational continuity of the Fire Department. The main purpose is to train new volunteer firefighters, but also to train good citizens, with civic sense. All young people between the ages of 12 and 18 years old, provided they are eligible, can join. Within the corps of firefighters, supervised by a group of instructors, they carry out firefighting, preparatory and recreational activities designed to prepare the student to become an active-duty firefighter after the age of 18.
